At the prestigious event, which will be opened by France’s Minister of Culture no less, industry leading professionals and researchers will gather, take stock and discuss currently available eReaders as well as those in development and how these readers are lending to the current media revolution.
E-PaperWorld Expo and Conference is open to the public (although there is an admission fee) and promises to be incredibly exciting. You can visit Igor at booth 27 to learn more about PressDisplay.com and the rest of NewspaperDirect’s innovative digital solutions. He’d love to see you there!
mediaIDEAS, an independent research strategy organization, labels eReaders as one of the most disruptive technologies of the early 21st Century. On Wednesday March 10 at the TH(ink) eReaders 2010 Summit in New York City, the who’s who of the eReader and digital publishing world will come together for a half day to discuss exactly how these disruptive technologies can work for you, not against you.
Nikolay Malyarov, NewspaperDirect’s Director of Digital Media and Legal Affairs, will be right in the thick of things as he’ll participate in a panel discussing eReaders and the most relevant questions surrounding them – questions such as:
- What are the keys to an immersive magazine, book, and Newspaper reading environment and can these be achieved on an eReader?
- What developments over the next year will be coming to the eReader hardware space?
- How will the user experience change over the next year with eReader software?
- How do eReaders fit in a publisher’s range of delivery options?
- How will publishers make money on the eReader platforms? What role will advertising play?
- What affect will the Apple tablet and the tablet market in general, have on the ePaper and eReader market?
- Is there room for more proprietary content platforms like those from Apple and Amazon?
By the end of it all, attendees will have a better understanding of eReader technology, developments in the eReader world and the financial opportunities afforded to those who include eReaders and eReader potential directly into their business models.
Held January 7-10 in sunny Las Vegas, Nevada, the 2010 International CES saw NewspaperDirect kick off the New Year in style. Although not an official exhibitor at the event, our own Director of Strategic Development, Igor Smirnoff, was one of the 200,000 individuals in attendance taking in the sights, sounds and latest tech market offerings as well as getting a glimpse into some of the goodies that really aren’t all that far off (3D TV? Sign me up!).
More importantly, Igor’s attendance hinged around key partnership announcements made by Sony, Amazon and Google. With these new partnerships, NewspaperDirect’s unprecedented list of 1,400+ full content digital publications, made available through PressDisplay.com, are now available to Sony Reader, Kindle, and Google Android mobile OS smartphone users!
Not a bad week by any stretch of the imagination.
And what’s even better? You can expect to hear similar announcements over the course of 2010 as NewspaperDirect continues to push platform boundaries!
Someone once famously coined the phrase, “The times they are a-changin’”, and while I’m pretty sure that someone didn’t really have the publishing industry in mind, I couldn’t really think of anything more apropos in describing the purpose of Mediabistro.com’s upcoming eBook Summit.
On December 15-16 at the New Yorker Hotel in New York City, this inaugural event will play host to the who’s who in the digital publishing realm including our very own Director of Strategic Development, Igor Smirnoff.
So why all the hype? Well, as you’ve undoubtedly noticed, there have been some significant transformations in the world of publishing over the last several years – from the perspective of content providers and publishers. I don’t think I’d be going out on a limb suggesting that historically, the industry has worked around a fairly rigid model where revenue streams and business operations were more clearly defined. On the consumer end of the spectrum, individuals knew what they were getting, but were fairly limited in how they could get it.
Ahh, how the times have changed. It seems like almost daily, we’re hearing of new, exciting and more innovative ways of getting content out to the masses. More and more, publishers are leveraging technological innovations such as PressDisplay and PressReader to help drive their businesses and ultimately, reshape the industry. Those who embrace this digital future will discover fantastic opportunities to expand their circulation, develop new revenue streams, and grow their businesses, and really, that’s what it’s all about.
Similar to Dylan’s 60s mantra, the eBook Summit will see Igor discussing how times are indeed changing – as they relate to an eReading market that’s expanding to beyond just books, and, NewspaperDirect’s front line role within an exciting industry transformation. His presentation can be heard during the Across Platforms: Storytelling, From Page to Screen session held on day one of the summit, between 10:30 – 11:30 am. This high profile panel session will take a look at linking one platform to another, telling a story in various media formats and uncovering new sources of revenue.
Don’t miss out! If you want to learn about this and how you can partner with NewspaperDirect to get your business to that next level, we invite you to attend, participate and have a chat with Igor. We’re very pleased to offer you a discounted registration rate of 15% (use discount code EBSPKR when signing up). The summit will take you to the publishing world’s cutting edge and beyond, and hey, who would miss a chance to get to New York City?
If you can’t make it, send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org – we’d be delighted to get you up to speed.
Hope to see you there!
